Linnéa Wikman
Linnéa Wikman was born and raised in Skellefteå. By day, she works as a librarian at Skellefteå City Library and writes opinion columns for the local newspaper Norran. In her free time, she consumes an unhealthy amount of horror literature, favoring psychological horror, often with elements of gore and body horror. She debuted in 2024 with the historical horror novel Bärarn (The Carrier), a violent tale inspired by Västerbotten folklore. About the book: "I keep walking, bloody footprints in the moss behind me. Forward, forward I go, with my malevolent shadow trailing me. I keep walking because I've realized I'm not fleeing. I'm searching." Veira returns to her childhood home after many years, fleeing from the trauma she experienced as a child. But soon, she senses something is off. Rumors circulate among the villagers. What is gossip, and what is real? Can she even trust her own memory? When she is offered a deal that could save her from hunger and poverty, she cannot resist. But what happens when you open the door and invite in the darkest of forces? Bärarn is a dark, violent, and evocative novella inspired by Västerbotten folklore. It is a story about returning, confronting one’s traumas, and what happens to a person who cannot resist the pull of evil.
